Although I’ve been a competitive player and coach for over 40 years, I have to confess a secret: “I’ve never been a fan of table tennis shoes ».
Why not? I’m a defensive player and almost all table tennis shoes had these 2 faults: firstly, they didn’t absorb enough shock and secondly, they were perforated very quickly within a maximum of 4 months.
I therefore regularly turned to volleyball or badminton shoes which were superior in these 2 respects, even if I often had to admit that they were a little too heavy.
Despite this, I decided to give these new andro shoes a chance based on the comments I was hearing around me.
Pros:
- The shoes are shock-absorbing both in the middle and in the heel.
- The shoes seem to be very durable. I’ve been using them for several months now and there’s no sign of any weakness in the shoe’s material.
- The shoes are lightweight and provide real support for the foot at all levels, regardless of the direction of travel.
- At first, I felt a bit cramped in the shoes, but this impression disappeared in front of the solidity of the foot support.
- They adhere very well to different floor surfaces.
- I found exactly the right size for me. Often I have to take a slightly larger shoe to be comfortable, but not this time.
- I bought them on special and the price was very good, so excellent value for money.
- I didn’t have to wait long before the shoes were “broken in ».
- I can use these shoes when I do other sports like badminton.
The cons:
- I’m an old player and the design of the shoes, although very beautiful and excellent, is not anonymous enough for me.
In conclusion, I recommend these shoes to any serious player.
