At the 2025 Asian Table Tennis Championships in India, 15-year-old Iranian sensation Benyamin Faraji pulled off one of the biggest shocks in recent memory.
Faraji stunned the table tennis world by defeating Olympic champion and world No. 1 Wang Chuqin, then edging world No. 2 Lin Shidong 3–2 during the men’s team quarterfinals against China.
On the women’s side, Team Iran also made history by beating Kazakhstan 3–1, securing qualification for the 2026 World Team Championships in London, led by veteran Neda Shahsavari.
