Canada delivered a powerhouse performance at the 2026 North American Championships in San Francisco, with our athletes dominating the podium across multiple events. The results reflect a deep, confident national program ready to take on the world.
The Edward Ly Triple Crown
Edward Ly was undoubtedly the star of the tournament. In an incredible display of consistency and focus, Ly captured three major titles:
- Men’s Singles Champion: Defeating Nandan Naresh (USA) 4-2 in a high-intensity final.
- Men’s Doubles Champion: Partnering with Laurent Jutras-Vigneault to secure gold.
- Mixed Doubles Champion: Teaming up with the legendary Mo Zhang.
Veteran Leadership and Rising Stars
Mo Zhang added yet another gold to her storied career by winning the Mixed Doubles title alongside Ly. While she withdrew from the Women’s Singles competition to focus on her health, her presence and sharp play in the mixed event provided the veteran stability Team Canada needed.
In the Women’s events, Olivia Huang reached the quarter-finals in Singles, falling to the eventual champion Sally Moyland. Huang didn’t leave empty-handed, however, as she teamed up with Jiayi Nie to secure a well-earned 3rd place in Women’s Doubles.
The Verdict: From singles to doubles, Team Canada showed exceptional depth and competitive fire. Congratulations to all our athletes for representing the maple leaf with such pride!
